In our May newsletter, I announced that Fishkill UMC would be joining the Wiccopee Community UMC to support a full-time clergy position.  Fishkill is moving from full-time to three-quarter time, and Wiccopee remains at one-quarter time.

With this move comes some changes.  Perhaps the most visible change is thatFishkill’s worship time will move from 9:30 am to 10:00 am, beginning July 3.  This will allow me to be present at Wiccopee’s service (they begin at 9:00 am), which I will leave a few minutes before worship ends.  As I will probably be a few minutes late to Fishkill, a liturgist can begin the worship at 10:00 am.  It may take a few weeks to smooth out the logistics (and hopefully no speeding tickets!), but I am sure that it will all work out smoothly.

As we move toward this change, a few members from each church met together to talk about what this new relationship could look like.   Both churches are very active in ministries, and those ministries reach out into different sections of our communities.   Both churches host meals at different times of the year, and I see wonderful opportunities for people in both churches to enjoy time in fellowship together.

I believe this will be a very fruitful time for both churches, as we spend time together and perhaps participate in each other’s ministries together.  I am excited by all the possibilities!
